What would be an awesome electronics project to do?

So my final year electronics engineering program requires us to do an electronics project involving anything from PLC, assembly languages, anything. I don’t want to build a robot going through a maze or anything pretty ordinary or have been done before.
Nothing is coming to my head so I was wondering maybe the yahoo community can help throw some ideas around.
