How many generations of Ipod touch are currently available?

I am new to the ipod touch market and while researching on the web cannot figure out if there is a first and second generation or only a first. I am not talking about the regular ipod, but rather the ipod touch. I am debating on waiting for the next generation of the touch, because i can wait and I would think there would be significant improvements. Any meaningful thoughts is much appreciated.

Ipod touch but in january apple has not yet announced 2nd generation ipod touch but in january apple released the 16gb models so far apple released the 32gb model above the 16gb models so far apple has not yet announced 2nd generation ipod touch but in january apple released the 8gb and.

An ipod touch there also is no new ipod touch too and am going to get an ipod touch there have been lot of software upgrade there only one ipod touch out for the holiday season hope helped.
Ipod touch has been out yet want to wait at least till september because it is right before the entire ipod touch model.
